Nabeul
Tunisia's pottery town, with a lively Friday market
Nabeul, the capital of Cap Bon, sits just 12 km north of Hammamet and is best known for its pottery and ceramics. Workshops along the main avenues sell glazed tiles, plates and bowls in blue, green and yellow, and many will show you the wheel and kilns. The town is also known for distilling orange-blossom and rose water in spring. The weekly Friday market draws people from across the region. The regional archaeological museum displays finds from ancient Neapolis, whose remains lie by the beach, and from other Cap Bon sites.
